Ayumu Kurosawa (黒沢 歩 Kurosawa Ayumu) is the male protagonist of the Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai series.
Kurosawa Ayumu is the owner of Himawari Cafe and has an unexplainable fear of cockroaches.

Kurosawa Haruko (previous)[]
Kurosawa has known Haruko since he was in middle school (she was in high school), and had been in love with her since. Haruko is the girlfriend and eventually wife of his older brother, Kurosawa Hajime. Despite being in love with her, he never confessed and just accepted that it would never be anything more than friendship. He resolved to not go their wedding even though bother Haruko and his brother begged him to. With encouragement from Shibata, Kurosawa gets the courage to go to the wedding and finally confesses to her after the ceremony. It is unclear if Haruko ever knew about Kurosawa's feelings prior to this.
Ikushima Akira (previous)[]
Akira is Kurosawa's girlfriend of 8 years. After rejecting her three times, he finally agreed to date her after she threatened to kill herself if he didn't. Kurosawa abruptly left their shared apartment after she argued with him about reopening the Himawari Cafe, and he temporarily lived in the apartment above the cafe. Despite being desperately in love with him, Akira gave Kurosawa the ultimatum of giving up on the cafe or breaking up. Kurosawa chose the latter option deciding this would be his "fresh start on life."

Terui Manabu[]
Terui, a.k.a. "Teri", is a long time friend of Kurosawa's and currently one of his employees at Himawari Cafe. Terui has a lot of respect for Kurosawa after he saved him -and other friends- from the Black Rose Angels gang when they were in high school. He is also the first person to tell Kurosawa that they (Terui and their friends) support his love for Shibata and that he should quit denying his feelings.
Brown[]
Brown is a former gang member of the Black Rose Angels. He is an immigrant into Japan and, with the language barrier, didn't fully understand why he was being told to fight Kurosawa. Instead of fighting, Kurosawa told him that the Black Rose Angels were bad guys and that if he left the gang then he was welcome to come have a free dinner at Himawari Cafe. The two remained friends after this with Brown periodically showing up to eat at the cafe still.
